Another jewel from the Journal

From today's Journal, in the Marketplace section, from the article titled, "Patent Ruling Irks Inventors, Helps Corporations," about how it will be much more difficult to prove willfulness in patent infringement cases.

In the meantime, Boston patent attorney Peter Dichiara says he looks forward to being able to provide clients with a frank written opinion without worrying that "it will turn into a kiss of death for willfulness."

In other words, lawyers can now tell corporations that they are indeed infringing on patents without their feeling like they have have to do anything about it. Another step forward for the ownership society.
